Following the release of Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Ember Rise, Ubisoft has noticed an uptick in DDoS and DoS attacks against the servers.

According to Ubisoft, it has identified the worst offenders given that Operation Ember Rise was released, and plans to permanently ban the culprits from playing Rainbow Six Siege.

The bans for perpetuating DDoS and DoS attacks will apply to each Computer and console and will be issued beginning subsequent week (thanks, Blue).

By the finish of this week, it will also cut down the quantity of matches per server. Presently 3 matches are hosted per server, but this will be dropped to a single match per server. Ubisoft stated this for the reason that when a server crashes, or when a attack happens, it impacts 3 matches and requires them offline. After matches are split, it expects a 66% reduction in the effect triggered by DDoS and DoS attacks.

Also by the finish of the week, it will get rid of the escalating abandon sanction. Ubisoft stated innocent players are getting impacted by its implementation due to the attacks and soft booting . The business stated disabling the function really should cut down the “longer term effect felt by genuine players.”

To continue to combat the attacks, in early October, the Rainbow Six Siege group will make adjustments to how it manages and monitors network information along with how it accepts packets sent to the servers. Even though Ubisoft wouldn’t go into detail on the subject, it hopes the adjustments will have a “substantial effect on DDoS, DoS, Soft Booting, and server stressing.”

The business stated it is also taking legal action against the worst offenders. It is currently issuing cease and desists to internet sites and people today hosting DDoS solutions. It is also functioning with the Microsoft Azure group to create each quick and extended term options to the predicament.
