Google has just launched the Pixel 11 series, and benchmarks show that the Tensor G6 chip is a significant step down from rival chips. Now, Xiaomi has revealed its XRing 03 processor, and it seemingly obliterates Google’s silicon on paper.
GPU and CPU
Xiaomi revealed XRing 03 details on Weibo, and it packs a 3nm design from an unspecified foundry. What’s particularly interesting is that it comes with an unannounced Arm G2-Ultra NX GPU. Expect 16 cores, eight NX neural accelerators, and AI-based super-resolution and frame interpolation. Xiaomi claims this GPU is 85% faster than last year’s XRing 01, 64% more efficient, and 182% faster at ray tracing. For reference, the XRing 01 had an Immortalis G925 MC16 GPU. Either way, this seems far more impressive than the Tensor G6’s PowerVR CXTP-48-1536 GPU.
The company didn’t reveal the exact CPU cores, but noted that you can expect a decacore layout with six “super” cores, four “large” cores, and a 4.35GHz peak clock speed. Xiaomi says the CPU has dual SME2 acceleration units for AI tasks — SME is particularly important for AI workloads that aren’t optimized for the NPU. You should expect 60% faster performance than the XRing 01 and up to 25% lower power consumption. Xiaomi’s previous chipset packed a 10-core CPU consisting of two Cortex-X925 cores, six Cortex-A725 cores, and two Cortex-A520 cores.
NPU and AI
Xiaomi says you can expect a four-core NPU with 45% faster local AI performance, 200 TOPS of tensor computing power, and a claimed 3.3 teraflops of vector processing power. For comparison, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 packs an NPU with 100 TOPS of power, so Xiaomi is bringing considerable AI horsepower here. The XRing 03 also supports LPDDR6 RAM.
Camera and Video
On the multimedia front, the Xiaomi XRing 03 supports a single 432MP camera, which dwarfs MediaTek and Qualcomm’s 320MP single-camera capabilities — though no 320MP smartphone cameras have shipped yet. Xiaomi’s chipset also supports H.266 (VVC) video decoding for higher quality video at a reduced file size, following Android 17’s rollout of VVC support. Additional video features include 4K/60fps capture and noise reduction for night video.
Launch
Xiaomi has confirmed that the XRing 03 will debut in the Xiaomi 18 Fold, which is officially scheduled to launch next month. On paper, this looks like an impressive smartphone processor — particularly the GPU specs, which suggest Xiaomi phones powered by this chip will easily outperform the Pixel 11 series in gaming and avoid the severe issues seen running Genshin Impact on Google’s latest hardware.
