The man who may stand to make the most money from the AI boom seems to think he knows better than anyone else, including researchers who have studied and worked on AI for decades. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang claimed there was a “0% chance” of AI being the end of the world. He also said of people sounding the alarm about the dangers of AI that, “Scaring people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible.”
Huang also dismissed calls from CEOs like Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and OpenAI’s Sam Altman to slow down the development of AI as “not grounded in science.” He even argued that there was no need for new rules, laws, or guidelines, despite several high-profile cases in which AI models escaped containment and hacked other companies.
It’s not surprising that Huang was dismissive of the dangers posed by rogue AI and concerns about selling chips to China, or that he adamantly opposed new regulation. He is the CEO of the world’s most valuable company and number seven on Forbes ’ list of the richest people in the world. His wealth has skyrocketed from an estimated $21 billion in 2023 to over $192 billion in 2026, meaning any hiccup in the unchecked expansion of the AI industry could slow his ascent considerably.
