Honor is preparing to launch the Win2 series, which consists of the Win2, the Win2 RT, and the Win2 Turbo. The series shapes up to be an interesting tech showcase, defined by an active cooling fan and massive batteries — the standard Win2 is said to offer a 10,100 mAh cell, while the Win2 RT will run on an even larger 12,070 mAh battery.

While the release is expected next week, Honor continues to tease its handsets. The latest teaser, however, comes from display panel manufacturer Visionox. According to a post on Weibo, all three Win2 phones will boast the world’s first 2K 185Hz display.

Visionox notes that while most manufacturers sacrifice resolution in favor of refresh rate, the company worked closely with Honor to develop a panel that doesn’t require that compromise.

To complement the extremely high refresh rate, the panel also supports a 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate and a 520Hz reporting rate for ten-finger touch. Bezels measure just 0.93mm on all four sides, and 5,920Hz PWM dimming is included to reduce eye strain during long gaming sessions.

Gaming Focus

The Win2 series is clearly positioned as a gaming lineup, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC. Whether the high refresh rate will be achievable in practice remains to be seen — testing numerous devices with refresh rates above 120Hz has shown that real-world performance at those levels is typically limited to select gaming titles rather than general use.
