Last week was a major week for new video game releases, but it should come as no surprise that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ended up being the biggest launch of the week.
Over in the UK, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ended up being the top-seller on the weekly video game sales chart, to the shock of absolutely no one. Modern Warfare will likely be the best-selling game for the entirety of 2019 once it’s all said and done, meaning that it will likely sit highly on the chart here for awhile.
By comparison to last year’s Call of Duty title, Black Ops 4, GamesIndustry.biz reports that Modern Warfare sold 39% more copies at retail compared to its predecessor. This wasn’t enough to top the physical launch week sales of Call of Duty: WWII, but with digital sales being accounted for, both releases are said to be very close to one another.
Following behind Modern Warfare on the week was that of FIFA 20, which is almost always near the top of the charts in the UK. New releases in WWE 2K20, The Outer Worlds, and MediEvil then rounded out the top five spots for the week. We’ll have to see if these new releases end up having staying power on the UK sales chart as we continue to move forward.
