Xiaomi Mi 11 now official in the Philippines

Only a few weeks after its global version debut, the Xiaomi Mi 11 will finally arrive on the Philippines on March 13.

Jam-packed with high-end specs for relatively reasonable price, the Mi 11 is Xiaomi’s first flagship phone for 2021. Per initial reviews, its praised mostly for its 108-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 888 chipset, and a high-resolution 6.81-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate.

Those standout features should already be enough for most hardcore Android users, but the Xiaomi Mi 11 has even more to offer. For one, this is a 5G-enabled, dual-SIM smartphone running on the Android 11 with MIUI 12 skin on top. For another, the Mi 11 has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speakers, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Besides the rear-facing camera, there’s a 20-megapixel punch-hole, selfie shooter. Slow-mo recording at 120 fps is available, among other multiple camera modes.

But, of course, to be able to deliver these incredible specs while achieving a similar manufacturing cost as the awfully expensive iPhone 12, some sacrifices had to be made. The Xiaomi Mi 11 has a middling battery life. Its 4600mAh battery, which can be juiced up via 55-watt or 50-watt wireless charging, can only last around 13 hours per battery rundown tests, or 16 hours on nonstop YouTube viewing. The camera bump may be off-putting to some, and the in-screen fingerprint scanner may be slow. And perhaps arguably worst of all, there’s no IP rating.

Filipino consumers who want to grab the Xiaomi Mi 11 will have to shell out ₱36,990, the official Philippine price of the 8GB + 256GB model. Available in Horizon Blue and Midnight Gray color variants, the Mi 11 will retail on March 13 at Xiaomi’s concept stores as well as Lazada and Shopee. Preorders come with freebies and begin on March 5.
