Encounter tips

The Pure Anemo Hypostasis tends to have attacks that you’ll recognize from its “normal” counterpart. But, there are a few twists.

Firstly, you’ll notice several blocks in the arena. When these are destroyed, they’ll create wind currents that allow you to glide (in fact, gliding will become very important if you prolong the fight due to the boss’ abilities).

New and old attacks

Here are some examples of its attacks:

  • Wall Smash – Creates three rupturing beams that’ll travel along the ground. Make sure to avoid these after the boss “claps.” I usually dash towards the boss after the smash and it seems to work most of the time.
  • Diamond and Orbs – When the boss transforms into a diamond, it’ll fire three giant orbs that cause an explosion upon hitting the ground. You can dash sideways to avoid these. Alternatively, you can use Ningguang’s screen to block at least one.
  • Anemo Rain – There are more explosions raining down from the sky, but these are easily telegraphed due to the greenish circles on the ground. The boss’ core is also exposed for a few seconds after this.
  • Tornadoes and Vacuum Blast – These abilities remain the same as before.

Shockwave Pulse and the Storm Rhopaloceros (the “Butterfly of Death”)

Remember what I said about gliding becoming important? These two abilities will annihilate your team if you’re not careful.

The Shockwave Pulse fires three massive blasts that cover the entire arena. The only way to avoid getting hit is by gliding. You can do this by quickly breaking one of the Anemo cubes/blocks to create a wind current. Alternatively, you can use Venti’s charged skill or Albedo’s flower elevator (just be aware when it starts descending).

As for the Storm Rhopaloceros, aka. the “Butterfly of Death,” the butterfly no longer swoops by a couple of times. Instead, it’ll stay up in the air for several seconds, blanketing the arena in vicious winds.

If you’re on the ground, you’ll rapidly lose health. That’s why you should glide through the air, then do a plunging attack that hits the butterfly. If the plunging attack connects, it’ll revert back to the Pure Anemo Hypostasis’ core, cutting down its casting time and allowing you to deal damage.

Note: You can also try to switch to Qiqi and pop her elemental skill. If you used an Anemo resistance potion, and assuming Qiqi has enough HP and ATK, she can outheal the damage while replenishing your teammates.

Final Stand

When the Pure Anemo Hypostasis’ health is down to 5%, it’ll spawn several wind currents and five Anemo orbs in mid-air. Remember how the normal encounter only had four of these? Well, you still need to collect the four regular ones that are stationary. But, the fifth one will actually float around the area. It’s imperative that you grab it while also making sure that the other wind currents don’t ruin your movement.

After grabbing all five orbs, the Pure Anemo Hypostasis will replenish only a bit of health. Quickly destroy it to finish the challenge. Oh, and if you missed one or more orbs and you chose a low timer modifier, you might be done for.

My team’s composition

For the Storm Butterfly Intermezzo I challenge, I had Childe/Tartaglia, Ganyu, Albedo, and Qiqi. Ganyu did DPS from a distance and Childe attacked in melee range. Albedo was there to help if I needed an “elevator,” and Qiqi helped me survive the “Butterfly of Death” ability.

I started the encounter at the edge of the arena so that the boss followed this pattern: Anemo Rain -> Wall Smash -> Tornado. After this sequence, I just adapted accordingly.

After three attempts, I got a score of 3,465 points. It’s not the highest, but I’m okay with that for now.

To be clear, you’ll only need at least 2,858 points from each of the Hypostatic Symphony challenges/bosses. Going above that is just to help speed up the process (reaching a total of 20,000 points), or for bragging rights.
