It’s been a long four years since Patrice Désilets unveiled his newest game with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The reveal surprised long-time fans of the iconic game creator with it’s rather weird setting. Ancestors takes place millions of years ago and aims to put gamers in the
shoes feet of a primate and his clan. Naturally, this setting will make it hard for a traditional narrative to exist, since these animals cannot speak.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a very unique and curious game and knowing the person behind the title makes things only weirder. Patrice Désilets might not ring a bell but the talented game director is responsible for one of the biggest franchises currently available. Assassin’s Creed. After a fallout with Ubisoft, Désilets had to stop work on the spiritual successor to Assassin’s Creed, Amsterdam: 1666. Just recently we learned from Désilets that he plans to restart development on the game, but only after Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
Now, we know when this will happen. Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will launch on PC this August, exclusively on the Epic Games Store. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will have to wait until December to play the game.
