Taking care of really chamring pixelated pets will always be something I enjoy. Plantgotchi is an adorable, Twine-best pet game where you’ll end up with one of 12 plant pals.
Starting by picking from three eggs, you must then take care of the pet once they have hatched to the best of your abilities. You can give them love, play with them, feed them, bathe them, give them food, put them to bed, etc. like any normal pet.
On the side of the screen you can see the different statistics your pet has, as well as their maturity points. As these maturity points go up, the pet will grow in size and become closer to the plant that it will grow up to be. Plantgotchi is not a very long game, as the lifetime of your plant is short, but it is a balancing act to make sure their stats are good before they turn into the plant they are destined to be.
When you pick an option, like play or feed, there are many different outcomes like your pet getting hurt and not having fun or not liking the food. This affects the stat number that gets updated on the side of the screen. Sometimes, you’ll just not be lucky. Many of these events are also really funny and well written. It’s a great way to spend 15 minutes.
Plantgotchi is available now on itch.io.
