Stardew Valley update 1.5 is live on PC with new farm type and advanced options

Solo developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has once more blessed the timeline with another peek at features of today’s Stardew Valley update 1.5 – specifically, a look at the game’s starting screen, which now has a couple of new features like the new Beach Farm type and some advanced options.

The Beach Farm tooltip notes that the farm has good foraging and fishing, supply crates that can sometimes wash ashore, and tons of open space, but also makes sprinklers impossible to use due to the sandy soil. Meanwhile, the game’s advanced options window features choices that can remix community center bundles, lets players adjust mine rewards, and has tick boxes that guarantee community center bundles can be completed by year one and lets monsters spawn on your farm.

Barone noted in the middle of November that update 1.5 was “in the ‘home stretch’” of its development, though polishing and bug fixing took quite a while. Barone also noted in a reply to that same tweet that most of update 1.5’s feature set will be “definitely more heavy on the late-game content.” That said, expect things like banana plants, some form of “significant endgame content,” functioning chairs and split-screen co-op for PC and console, and now, some new choices when starting fresh. You can read it all in the patch notes that just released. Have fun!
