Samsung Galaxy Note 20 getting Android 11 update on T-Mobile and Verizon

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 owners on T-Mobile and Verizon were probably a little jealous of their AT&T counterparts when AT&T began updating its Note 20 to Android 11 at the start of this week. But they don’t have to be jealous any more.

T-Mobile and Verizon are now updating their Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra models to One UI 3 with Android 11. T-Mobile has updated its support pages for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra to confirm the rollout of the new updates, and T-Mo customers have confirmed that they’re getting their helping of Android 11. Meanwhile, Verizon’s Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra support pages also confirm the updates’ release.

The update to One UI 3 with Android 11 brings with it lots of improvements and new features. Samsung says that it’s refreshed the look of its One UI software with more consistent icons, smoother motion, and improved animations. Apps run faster, too, and restricted background activities should help get you better power usage.

Camera improvements in this update include better autofocus and auto exposure, and you can find images you’ve already taken faster with new search features in the Gallery. The Settings app now has a simpler look and feel, too, and privacy has been improved by allowing you to grant an app access to your location, camera, or microphone just one time.

Another Android 11 feature worth highlighting is the dedicated Conversations section in your notification shade that’ll make it easier for you to reply to your incoming chats. Also in the notification shade is a new media panel that’ll make it easier for you to control playback and change the device where your media is being played.

These are major updates, so if you’ve got a Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra on T-Mobile or Verizon you should keep an eye out for your upgrade or jump into your Settings app and check for it now. Just know that these are large updates, so you’ll want to get onto a speedy Wi-Fi connection before beginning the download.
