Wyze Watch now available for pre-order with 9-day battery life and $19.99 price

Wyze is a company that may be known for smart home devices, but today it announced that it’s getting into the smartwatch game with an ultra-affordable wearable.

The Wyze Watch is now available for pre-order for just $19.99. It’s available in 44mm and 47mm case sizes, both of which are the same price, and the watch is expected to begin shipping in February 2021.

One of the highlight features of the Wyze Watch is its battery life. Wyze touts that you can get up to 9 days on a single charge, which is a big deal when you consider that most smartwatches will last a day or two before they need to be recharged. When the Wyze Watch battery does run down, it’ll take around 2.5 hours to charge back up.

The Wyze Watch includes a heart rate monitoring as well as step and sleep tracking, and Wyze says it’s compatible with Google Fit and Apple Health if you’re using those apps for health tracking. You can also customize your watch face and get notifications for things like email and texts from your smartphone. Wyze says its watch is compatible with apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Twitter, and YouTube.

Of course, Wyze is also building in support for controlling its smart home devices from the watch. Shortcuts are supported and you can do things like control your Wyze lights and cameras from your wrist.

The raw specs of the Wyze Watch include a 1.75-inch 320×385 LCD screen and 300mAh battery on the 47mm watch, while the 44mm watch has a 1.4-inch 320×320 LCD display and 260mAh battery. There’s no NFC or GPS included, but Wyze has given the aluminum alloy case of its watch IP68 water resistance. Both models also have 16MB of built-in storage.

The Wyze Watch also supports swappable straps. It comes with a silicone strap included, but you can pre-order additional silicone straps in more colors for $3.99 apiece, or you can get a leather strap for $9.99.

At just $20, the Wyze Watch could be a solid option for someone who is unsure if they’ll like a smartwatch or for a person who is worried about breaking an expensive watch. While it may not be the most fully featured watch around, the Wyze Watch offers a low-cost way to add some smarts to your wrist that won’t be a huge loss if something happens to it.
