Fruit Ninja 2 – Review

The original Fruit Ninja game was first released in 2010 and turned into an overnight sensation. The addicting arcade game quickly became a mobile game staple and to this day, it is still enjoyed by millions of players worldwide. Now it’s time for the fruit-slashing sequel!

Fruit Ninja 2 is the first official full-fledged sequel of the blockbuster franchise from Halfbrick and while many of the game elements remain the same, various features are also introduced. Loyal fans of the Fruit Ninja will be delighted to know that the sequel maintains the game’s signature fruit-slashing game mechanics. No matter which game mode you choose to play, the goal is always to slice the most fruits and create the biggest fruit combos. It is a tried-and-true formula that still manages deliver an addicting and supremely entertaining experience.

Apart from the Classic, Zen and Arcade modes that are also available in the original game, Fruit Ninja 2 comes with a plethora of new and exciting game modes. Many of these modes are creative and only offered for a limited time before the game rotates to a different mode. This is a great way to keep the game fresh and have you checking back daily for new modes to play. Another major differentiation in this sequel is also the ability to fully customize your blades, power-ups, and characters. As you progress through the game, you will earn coins that can be used to purchase these items in the store. When used wisely, they can help increase your high scores or give you an advantage over the other player in thee multiplayer mode.

Speaking of the multiplayer mode, Fruit Ninja 2 introduces Leagues, which is a battleground for you to duel with other online players. The player-versus-player gameplay is incredibly well-designed and fun, the competitive element definitely raises the stakes of the game. If all these new game modes still can’t get you to try out Fruit Ninja 2, then you would be happy to know that there are also other new non-gameplay elements in the mix. For example, the Garden which allows you t grow and water plants for free rewards or many competitive events to participate in. Like many mobile games nowadays, there is also Season Pass available for purchase at a reasonable price.

Even with all the different features and modes, the game can get repetitive after a while. Thankfully, the dazzling visuals do a wonderful job of commanding the player’s attention. As an arcade-style mobile game, Fruit Ninja 2 is certainly quite a comprehensive package that can absolutely be played for free, if you don’t mind all the extra perks that come with the in-app purchase.
