Narrator: It’s the story of a column… that is only about what people are planning to play for the weekend.
Eliot: The inspiration came to me when I was bored.
Narrator: How it became a phenomenon…
Eliot: I tend to write a lot from the, uh, uh, uh, uh, um, uh, um, um, um, uh, uh, uh, um, um, um… elbow. The elbow has a lot of juice in it.
Narrator: …and how it didn’t.
Bree: I… don’t care for the way What Are You Playing is written. I don’t care for Eliot. Frankly, his style upsets the rest of us but we haven’t changed the locks yet.
Eliot: Yeah. Elbows.
Narrator: The story… of WRUP.
Justin: I have not consented to have my likeness in this oral history.
Bonus question: What’s your favorite choice for a breakfast meal if you want a treat?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go is happening for sure. I’m weirdly addicted to getting good IV Pokemon and transfering them to Pokemon Sword even though I haven’t been playing it hardcore. The distance trades, mega changes, and now level cap lift announcements have gotten my people fired up for Magmar community day!
Breakfast treat of choice is either steak and eggs or a breakfast sandwich, as long as it includes crispy hashbrowns.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Turns out that because of life delays, I’ll probably be gaming this weekend after all. I’m going to duck into Star Wars Galaxies Legends and do some catch-up crafting, I think, and I’ll be working on some award prep for the site too of course.
100% french toast for me. Definitely a special treat, especially if it’s big fluffy bread and good maple syrup. Hungry now!
P.S.: No I’m not really changing the locks and we love Eliot.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m having a dig into Atlas Rogues and am going to try to shake things up with my Final Fantasy XIV character. Otherwise, mot much else.
Is simply having time to have breakfast a treat? But if I had to answer more directly, the local coffee shop near me makes a delicious pan au chocolat and cortado.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Some FFXIV stuff and… well, I don’t know. I might play some more Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, because I feel like I should play that first, but I think I actually like Valhalla more even though there’s not a ton of daylight between them? I don’t know.
Honestly, these days even a muffin feels indulgent. I really love to have french toast, though.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’ve been holding off on playing Guild Wars 2 story content until the voice overs were added back in. Well, luckily that appears to be the case, so there’s a nonzero chance I’ll get some game time in there.
Bonus: I’m going with French toast! Froast!
Tyler Edwards (blog): Still working on Control and StarCraft II co-op prestige. Also got another Curse of Strahd session lined up.
Bonus question: I’m a creature of habit, and I have little appetite in the mornings, so I have a piece of toast with peanut butter 99% of the time. On occasion I have channeled my inner Disgusting Bachelor Frog and had ice cream for breakfast.
Pierre, patron: You know what, I’m a Viking! Yes I’m enjoying the exploration of some 8th century parts of Europe, bashing some skulls more than I probably should, in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. It’s really nice and relaxing to explore the game at my own pace. I’m playing on PC and didn’t meet any bug or any issue with the game optimization. I’m continuing my playthrough of Life is Strange. What a game! I already know the story by heart, but reliving it again is a treat as the characters are so well-written and touching. It’s like meeting with some old and beloved friends that you haven’t seen for a few years. And Max is such a nice person; it’s refreshing when in the real world, so many toxic people evolve.
Finally, I made a mistake recently: I subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Oh no! As if I had enough time. So I decided to try and play a game that so many people recommend: Outer Wilds. I haven’t started yet because I’m too busy at work these days, but I will probably start this weekend. I’ll let you know if I enjoy it too. As you can see, there’s no MMO in my gaming schedule. It saddens me somehow, as I lived so many memorable moments in MMOs in the past. But for some reason, MMOs are not appealing enough. It’s also probably a consequence of so many very good non-MMO games launching every year, and so many unfinished ones occupying my back-catalog.
Bonus question: Very often, I don’t eat breakfast, I’m not a morning person and can’t eat too early in the morning. But if I want to treat myself for breakfast, for the weekend for instance, one of my favorite choices would be waffles and French toasts with jam, honey, or chocolate on them. I would accompany these sweets with some eggs and bacon probably, and then, I will have to go for a longer run the next day. But enough for me, what about you MOP readers? What are you playing these days?
