THQ Nordic parent company Embracer Group has announced 13 acquisitions, including Zen Studios and Flying Wild Hog.
The full list of acquisitions includes Flying Wild Hog, Silent Games, Coffee Stain North, Quantic Lab, IUGO Mobile, Purple Lamp Studios, Sandbox Strategies, Mad Head Games, 34BigThings, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Snapshot Games, Zen Studios, and A Thinking Ape Entertainment.
Some of those purchases were made by Embracer Group itself, while others were made by its various subsidiaries like Koch Media, Saber, Interactive, THQ Nordic, Deca Games, and Amplifier Game Invest.
The most notable of the bunch are the deals for Zen Studios and Flying Wild Hog. The former was purchased for an undisclosed fee, and has spent the past 17 years working on franchises like Pinball FX, Zen Pinball, and real-time fantasy series CastleStorm. The company has also collaborated with big-name brands on virtual pinball tables like Star Wars Pinball and Telltale’s The Walking Dead Pinball.
Flying Wild Hog, meanwhile, has been acquired for $135.2 million, and is best known for its work on double-A console and PC titles such as the Shadow Warrior series. The studio is currently working on four projects for publishers Jagex, Devolver Digital, and Focus Home Interactive, and according to Embracer will “continue to grow and focus on delivering even more ambitious games” under its umbrella.
