Xiaomi is known basically for smartphones, however, the company has a really large ecosystem. The Chinese manufacturer produces a plethora of products from home appliances to gadgets we use every day. According to a recent Twitter post, Xiaomi will release a new face mask in India on October 13th. The warm-up post on Twitter reads “Breathe safely, live healthy. Coming to protect you. Unveiling on 13th October”.
In March this year, Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. got a patent for a new face mask. This mask comes with a three-dimensional frame shape that is compatible with the shape of the face. Furthermore, the frame of the mask uses an easily collapsible plastic. This is good for the face so that a hard force to the face will not cause injuries. According to Xiaomi, the users feels very comfortable while wearing the mask. The shape of the support frame can be changed by pressing the shaping part, so that the mask fits the face more closely, which effectively improves the air tightness of the mask.
It is worth mentioning that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) also granted Xiaomi a patent for a “smart mask” that can track the breath quality of the wearer. The “smart mask” is equipped with an embedded computing unit, which includes a processor to analyze all data from the mask sensor; a storage module to store the calculated data; a battery to power all instruments; a connector. In addition to achieving the purpose of air filtration, this mask can also store a large amount of user data.
Xiaomi face mask – offers more for less
The company will unveil this mask in India tomorrow but we do not know what the mask is promising for now. Although people are slowly forgetting about the coronavirus, it is still a menace in many regions globally.
The Indian market seems to be a very good place for Xiaomi. The company’s mantra (value for money) seems to work well for Indians. Xiaomi has been on top of the Indian smartphone market for close to two years. In addition, its smart TVs are also doing well in India. However, the recent fracas between India and China is causing some disruption in Xiaomi’s business. Recall that the Indian government recently banned some of Xiaomi’s apps. The company is making some vital adjustments so as to follow all the regulations in India
