Google Pixel 4a 5G will be fully revealed later today and we’re pretty excited for the 5G-ified version of its more affordable Pixel. Ahead of #GoogleLaunchNightIn, plenty has already revealed about the upcoming Pixel phones and we’ve got all the key rumours, leaks and trusted information right here.
Pixel 4a was mostly well-received but, up against competitors, it was clearly lacking in one key area. Unlike OnePlus Nord and the Moto G 5G Plus, the cheaper Pixel phone lacked 5G and this was despite a quite similar price. Google clearly preempted this issue, having a Pixel 4a 5G in its back pocket. However, the price rise up from the 4G version to the 5G model will be the key factor for the success of the new Pixel.
The Pixel phones have been some of the most leaked ever and it feels like there isn’t much we don’t know. We’ll have all the details confirmed tonight but, for now, read on for all you need to know about the price, release date, design and specs of Pixel 4a 5G.
Google Pixel 4a 5G – Release Date
Google has finally revealed when we will see the upcoming 5G version of Pixel 4a (as well as Pixel 5). Google’s “Launch Night In” is set to launch the phones on September 30.
The event is set to see the reveal of the two new phones as well as a new Chromecast with Google TV and Google Nest Audio speaker.
UK retailer BT recently listed Pixel 4a 5G ahead of time, with an availability date of October 15, meaning you won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on the phone after the big launch.
Google Pixel 4a 5G – Price
Google VP of Product Management Brian Rakowski revealed Pixel 4a 5G pricing would begin at $499.
We don’t yet know how this will translate to UK pricing. However, the Pixel 4a was priced at $349 in the US and £349 in the UK. £150/$150 is quite a hike just for 5G and would put the device pricing above other budget 5G phones like the OnePlus Nord.
Google Pixel 4a 5G – Specs
WinFuture has recently revealed the specs of the upcoming Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, here’s the lowdown on the latter:
|Display||6.2-inch 2340×1080 60Hz|
|Camera||12-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel wide-angle|
The reported Pixel 4a 5G specifications are quite shocking, primarily due to their similarity to the specs we’re expecting to see on the flagship Pixel 5. The processor, storage, camera and display resolution are all the same, while Pixel 5 does get refresh rate, battery and RAM bumps.

Google Pixel 4a 5G – Design and Colours
A range of European retailers have jumped the gun and gave us an idea of what colours we can expect (via 9To5Google). German retailer Computeruniverse listed Pixel 4a 5G as having a Black model and a White model.
The current Pixel 4a is only available in Black so it looks like an exclusive model is coming for the 5G version. While UK retailer BT only listed Black as a colour for Pixel 4a 5G.
The design of Google’s next phone is an interesting one, and it seems this may be where Google could look to justify the added cost over the standard Pixel 4a.
Twitter tipster @OnLeaks offered up his own renders in collaboration with 91Mobiles to give us a clear look at the upcoming phone:
