Destiny two has had a major week with the launch of Shadowkeep and its cost-free-to-play debut, and all the hype has brought in a bunch of new and returning players. Although it is no surprise to see the Destiny two player count reaching new heights thanks to its newly-removed price tag of entry, the launch has shuffled the platform hierarchy, and Computer is now the game’s prime platform.
Steam players at the moment comprise 41% of the all round Destiny two pie, according to information from the neighborhood-constructed tracker, Charlemagne. PlayStation four comes in second with 34% of players, and Xbox A single trails in third with 25%. An archived version of the identical web page from back in July shows the Computer version (then on Battle.net) with 22% of players, compared with 32% on X1 and 46% on PS4.
Clearly, the jump to Steam has paid off. The Charlemagne bot on Discord shows far more distinct player counts. On October eight, Destiny two saw two.38 million players all round. 743k have been on PS4, 600k have been on Xbox A single, and even though this bot is nevertheless stuck with old Battle.net information for now, that leaves more than a million every day players on Steam. (The bot also tracks a distinct period of time than the site, so the percentages are slightly distinct.)
Because its launch final week, Destiny two has cemented itself correct behind Steam’s major 3: CSGO, Dota two, and PUBG, and has far outperformed all the other regulars in the prime ten. It is uncommon for any game to retain that organization on Valve’s platform – rarer nevertheless for a single to remain there.
Meantime, Bungie’s setting the stage for Destiny’s future. A strange Tower update appears to hint at some larger alterations coming to the hub quickly, and it appears like we can continue to anticipate these small narrative teasers in the future.
