Gaming with Kids » Newt 1 (PS4, Switch, Xbox 1, Computer)

Newt is a…well, I’m not seriously positive what she is.  A musical note?  A bug?  Nicely, she’s some type of critter who lives in a planet of music and colour, but a single day The Good Slumber arrives and removes all the colour and music from the planet.  Newt has the energy to bring colour back to every thing she touches, and now she need to save her planet in this entirely non-violent three-D platformer.  Newt 1 is out there to download on all present consoles and Computer, but reviewed on PS4 right here.

When Newt touches something monochromatic, it turns back into colour.  In every single level, her job is to colour every thing in the stage, and go for a 100 % score.  So make positive to touch just about every platform, tree, bush, and even bridge post!  When you touch an owl, they’ll adjust colour and wake up and fly away and act as platforms for you, so coloring every thing is essential to progress, also.  It is like a three-D coloring book.  Also, the a lot more you colour, the a lot more instruments are added to the background music, so that is a neat impact, also.  There are 4 regions with six levels every single, plus a secret location.  The 4 key regions are Forest, Cloud, Island, and Glacier.  Aside from getting distinct colors and music, not substantially is distinct about every single planet, aside from items like the Glacier planet getting slippery floors and such.

In the levels are things to assistance Newt out.  If you locate wings in a level, you will be in a position to jump greater and farther.  With the drum item, you can hold down a button and release it to colour every thing in the nearby location.  The drum also has the energy to do items like freeze water and lava.  Only dilemma with these things is you can only preserve them for a single level.  It is a shame you cannot carry them with you due to the fact they positive make the game simpler and a lot more exciting.  In a single level in every single planet is a hidden wand.  If you can locate it, you will be in a position to automatically shoot out beams that adjust nearby objects to colour, which is substantially improved and you can take it with you to other levels in that planet.  But as soon as you go to a new planet, you will have to locate that world’s wand, so it can be a tiny annoying.  Fortunately the game will inform you which levels hide the wand.  Hidden in every single level is a parrot for you to locate, and if you can locate all of them, you can unlock anything neat.  Collecting adequate music notes will adjust the colour of Newt’s outfits, and you get a new set of garments when you enter a new planet.

The issues I had with the game are seriously only minor annoyances.  Play handle is a bit floaty, and I hate how if you hold the jump button immediately after landing from a jump, you will automatically hop once again.  Messed me up so several occasions.  But contemplating that when you fall, you will usually teleport close to exactly where you fell, it was seriously only slightly annoying at ideal.  And even although there are 4 key distinct worlds, most levels are a lot more or significantly less the exact same and can get repetitive.  I also hated when I would get to the finish of a level and only be 99 % comprehensive.   I want there was a radar to inform me which tiny tiny flower hadn’t been colored however!  Some may possibly not like how quick and quick the game is, but I assume it is excellent for newcomers and everyone who just desires a relaxing game expertise.  The graphics, gameplay, and music also are nostalgic as they remind me of three-D platformers in the PSOne and N64 days.

Kid Aspect:

Considering that there are no enemies to fight or attack you, there is no violence whatsoever.  If you fall off the edge, you will be teleported back close to to exactly where you fell.  Reading talent is necessary for some of the text, but the game is quite quick to figure out otherwise.  Younger players who are not familiar with three-D platforming games may possibly have problems with some of the jumps.  Good tiny game for all ages otherwise.  Newt 1 is rated E for Every person.
