Eve On the web could realize sentience, CCP seeking into AI and procedural generatio

Icelandic developer CCP is apparently seeking into artificial intelligence and procedural generation tech for Eve On the web so that the MMO could be self-sustaining indefinitely.

That is according to Computer Gamer, who spoke with the company’s CEO Hilmar Pétursson (pictured), who mentioned that this could open up a wealth of possibilities moving forward.

“If there had been environmental effects in EVE from all this industrialisation and order, that would be a fantastic issue,” the boss mentioned.

“Then the technique could balance itself out and oscillate amongst order and chaos.”

This is aspect of Pétursson’s concern with Eve On the web: stagnation – that the game will develop boring more than time. This is aspect of the cause why the CEO has decided to introduce a ‘chaos era’ into the lengthy-operating MMO.

“Assume about it like EVE is an organism. EVE does not like exactly where it is going. It really is no longer limber. It really is lost its stamina and mobility. It feels a tiny stiff. EVE comes to me in a dream and says, Hilmar, release the hounds of war,” he mentioned.

“That is how it occurred. It came to me in a dream and it mentioned, ‘This can’t go on. I do not like this, this is not what I was meant to be.’ The game has a goal. It desires to finish its mission, and its mission is significantly bigger than what it has executed in the final 16 years.”
