Oddworld: Soulstorm will release as an Epic Games Retailer exclusive subsequent year

The new oddyssey.

Yet another day, one more Epic Games Retailer exclusive. In a statement by Oddworld creator Lorn Lanning, it was confirmed that Oddworld: Soulstorm will launch for Computer as an exclusive for the Epic Games Retailer.

The Oddworld Twitter account posted the statement by Lanning earlier this morning. Naturally, the alter could come with some ire, so Lanning explains the selection for the move to the shop front. Essentially, it sums up to Epic delivering the Oddworld developer with some extra funding.

“What I would like to do is deliver you with the reasoning that went into bringing the Computer version of Soulstorm to the Epic Games shop as an exclusive mainly because you deserve to know,” Lanning wrote in his message. “We’ve been financing Soulstorm 100% ourselves. Soulstorm is our most ambitious game ever and we are committed to developing a good game that meets the highest level of high quality. But to generate the version of Soulstorm we want, and you deserve, we necessary extra economic help.”

Newer ‘n’ tastier

Oddworld: Soulstorm continues the adventures of Abe in his side-scrolling shenanigans. You guide the courageous Mudaken via previous enemies, solving puzzles, and freeing his prior workmates from Mollusk the Glukkon. Soulstorm will continue the anti-corporate themes of its predecessors, and requires spot not extended following Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. The stakes do appear to be larger, nonetheless, as Abe now have to rescue 300 of his fellows from Mollusks’ grasp.

[Oddworld: Soulstorm is] a dark, twisted trip into Abe’s heart and soul,” writes the game’s description at its web page. “In Soulstorm’s devilishly twisted story, we’re telling an incendiary tale of uprising and infiltration against the most current in soul-sucking customer solutions.”

The above description does sound dire, but I’m confident the game will throw in some fart jokes for levity. This is an Oddworld game, following all.

Oddworld: Soulstorm will release onto Computer through the Epic Games Retailer some time in 2020.
