Noise in “Silent” Components of TG16/PCE Games?

[ad_1]

An exciting and exclusive situation with some revisions of PCE/TG-16 games has been discovered, as nicely as a possible repair!  It began (as with lots of items in life) by an accidental discovery…

Tianfeng was testing Artemio’s upcoming version of MDFourier for the PCE and noticed that some games would have terrible noise in components of the game that have been supposed to be silent.  As initial (as with most of us hardware nerds), he assumed it was hardware-connected:  Was it the HU Card?  The version of PCE hardware?  Cables???

He tested several games on his everdrive and discovered that some had the concerns and some didn’t. Artemio then checked on several emulators and discovered that some of them did not have this situation. Immediately after some additional digging Artemio found that some games have been basically panning stereo, rather than turning down each sliders and this could be linked to a specific register in the games code.

The repair was tested on a handful of games so far and theoretically be utilised to patch any game with a related audio bug.  More data, as nicely as a possible repair for impacted games can be discovered right here:  http://junkerhq.net/pcenoise/

…and now we all have 1 extra excuse to use our ROM carts more than original games p
