Developer Glumberland announced in a weblog post that their quirky farming and monster dance-off game Ooblets will be an Epic exclusive for its Computer launch.
The Xbox A single release is unaffected by the agreement, but Ooblets will not seem on other game distribution platforms ‘for a quite lengthy while’, developer Ben Wasser stated. Ooblets was listed on Steam with the release date of ‘Soonish!’, but Wasser justified the shift to the rival competitor.
Epic supplied a deal that meant monetary stability would be specific for the independent group: ‘[Epic Games] supplied us a minimum assure on sales that would match what we’d be wanting to earn if we had been just promoting Ooblets across all the stores… Now we can just concentrate on producing the game with no worrying about maintaining the lights on. The upfront funds they’re delivering implies we’ll be capable to afford extra support and sources to begin ramping up production and carrying out some cooler items.’
No launch date was described, but Wasser added that the investment from Epic will permit improvement to choose up pace, as Glumberland is only produced up of two men and women who sometimes contract freelancers for some additional operate.
Glumberland was conscious that the news may well come with some backlash, but hoped that the post’s insight into the whys and hows of their Epic exclusive agreement would abate negativity. They also shared a gif of a character and tiny Ooblets flailing at the Floss dance move, which is undeniably quite funny.
Ooblets will release on Computer and Xbox A single at a later date.
