Telltale Tales from the Borderlands is no longer available on Steam. Earlier today, Reddit user Andreas_Pires noticed that the game’s price tag and ‘add to cart’ button had both appeared from Valve’s platform.
No reason for the delisting has been offered on Steam, but a similar story has appeared over on GOG. In a discussion post earlier today, GOG representative Chandra said that “sadly, we need to inform you that, due to the company’s closure, all the remaining Telltale titles will be delisted from our catalog on Monday, May 27, 10am UTC)”.
Tales from the Borderlands is affected by the change, along with the Batman series, The Wolf Among Us, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Sam & Max series. Chandra says that “for everyone who purchased any of said titles prior to delisting, the games will remain in their GOG library.” Tales from the Borderlands is the only game to have disappeared from Steam so far, but it’s possible that more titles will follow it in due course.
Beyond the closure of Telltale, GOG hasn’t offered an explanation for the delisting. However, as pointed out in the forums, all of the games affected are the result of external IPs – Borderlands is owned by Gearbox, while Marvel and DC Comics could be regaining control of their franchises.
Ready for more(derlands)? Borderlands 3 releases this year
Last year, three Telltale game disappeared from Steam in the wake of the company’s abrupt closure. Monkey Island, Jurassic Park, and Back to the Future games were all removed, but it’s not clear why those went while other games were allowed to stay. We’ve reached out to GOG for more information on this matter, and will update when we know more.
